Training

This page is for you if you're interested in knowing how exactly I will prepare for the intense physical task of biking across the country. Although I'll be posting about my workouts and ride routes on the home page of this blog, this page has my training plan and schedule.

I'm currently using a modified form of Bicycling Magazine's guide to training for a century (a 100-mile ride), pictured below. I am doing shorter rides on the weekdays, and longer rides on the weekends. I am cross-training on days that I don't bike, taking a yoga class to improve flexibility, and doing strength training.

My favorite part about biking is that it is social--except when climbing extremely difficult hills, you can talk with your riding partners or teammates! I have met and gotten to know wonderful people from the Eugene and University of Oregon community during my training thus far.
